Question: What Makes Granite A Good Choice Over Tile Or Other Countertop Options?

Answer: Well granite is a slab that will be almost seamless, meaning it will reduce grout lines and that sort of thing. It is much more durable, so you can take things out of the oven and place it directly on the granite without the worry of melting the corian or the laminate, or burning it.

You've also got a full piece of slab as opposed to a bunch of 6x6, 12x12, or even 24x12 tiles that will have breaks in each of those spots. The finished edge of granite gives it a nice thick look, versus the tile which is 3/8ths of an inch thick so you have to build it up to give the impression of thickness.

The one downside of granite is that you have to seal it, but that is a very quick and simple process. Like waxing your car, you spray on the product, wipe it in, let it absorb, and buff it clean.
