The downside is that longer fur is a little more difficult to work with and will often have less detail. Animal pelts with shorter fur strands, such as from mink, sable and muskrat, are smooth and luxurious to the touch. This type of fur is versatile and can be used to make many different styles of hat with greater detail. This type of fur can be used in fur hats that have foldable ear flaps (i.e., Russian trooper) without fear of matting.

What are the main differences between fur hats for men and fur hats for women?

Variety and fashion. There are many types of fur hats available to women. Women’s hats include beret, pill box and cassock styles, as well as original designs. Men’s fur hats tend toward the classic styles including as Russian Trooper and bomber styles. Many women wear the Russian trooper and bomber styles too!

Fur hats are warm! Fur hats are fashionable! Each shopper is motivated to his or her own purpose. A well-made fur hat will be both warm and fashionable.

How did you get started in the fur hat business?

Our family has its roots in Eastern Europe, where many close relatives still live today. These relatives often sent gifts to the United States, including gorgeous fur hats. Our fur hats were made-to-order and easily rivaled the beauty and quality found in top department stores and fur salons. We felt that others would enjoy these fur hats as much as we did! We manufacture all of our fur hats in Europe using only the finest materials available. Our prices are low because our customers buy direct from the factory.

What are the main differences between real fur and faux fur hats?

No man-made material can compare to real fur. Real fur is beautiful, soft and durable. Real fur is more expensive, but it’s worth the cost.

In terms of functionality and comfort, how do fur hats compare to other types of hats?

There are obviously many types of fur hats. Most are stylish, all are warm. Most fur hats are extremely comfortable, especially if it has a soft shell. I think that there is fur hat for any winter activity. Summer activities are a whole different story…

Who is your target market?

We sell primarily to two groups. The first group consists of people who value fur hats because of their functionality. Fur hats are warm! People that live in colder climates, or vacation in colder areas (such as ski resorts), enjoy the warmth and style provided by a well-made fur hat. People in the second group simply like the look. A beautiful fur hat is a fashion statement!

What are your thoughts on the “negative” perception of people owning real fur products?

We are fortunate to live in a country where “freedom” still reigns. People that like and enjoy fur products are free to purchase them as they wish. Likewise, people that do not wish to own fur products (for whatever reason) are free to not buy them. Why the negative perception? I personally do not see the difference between owning a fur product and owning a leather product. Most fur pelts come from farm raised animals, similar to leather from farm raised cows. Nearly everyone owns and enjoys at least one leather product, whether shoes, coats and/or furniture. My sons own leather baseball gloves.

What are the current trends of wearing real fur products?

Fur is in! Fur products are currently, and will always be, a mainstay in the fashion world. Fur is both luxurious and functional. What else could be both beautiful and warm at once?
