Company History

1978
OliverMcMillan is founded.

1983
Following successful residential and neighborhood retail developments, OliverMcMillan enters into the office sector. The company builds close to a dozen iconic office buildings across San Diego over the next decade.

1988
OliverMcMillan acquires the Uptown District development project, OM's first large, mixeduse endeavor. Within a few years, OliverMcMillan acquires Village Hillcrest, and develops a mixed-use project adjacent to the Uptown District, solidifying its reputation as a respected, design-driven, mixed-use development firm.

1993
OliverMcMillan begins purchasing land for development in Downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter and East Village. The company eventually acquires more than 20 parcels of downtown land to become the largest private landowner in San Diego.

1997
OliverMcMillan purchases and remodels the historic Eagles Hall building in downtown San Diego, christening the site as the firm's Corporate Headquarters.

1998
OliverMcMillan partners with Developers Diversified Realty (DDR) to form DDR OliverMcMillan, a private Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

2000
OliverMcMillan is awarded The Glen Town Center, one of the first US projects to transform a former military base into a major mixed-use development. The project goes on to be awarded ULI's presWgious “Project of the Year” in 2005.

2009
OliverMcMillan expands into Hawaii with the purchase of a lien on a multifamily project previously stalled under construction. The project, Pacifica Honolulu, reinstates construction in 2010, undergoing re-engineering and rebranding. In 2011, the project is completed and a new specialty emerges for OM: distressed environments.

2011
OliverMcMillan acquires The Streets of Buckhead in Atlanta, a stalled project assembled by amassing a number of adjoining city parcels. The development represents OliverMcMillan's easternmost presence in the US.

2012
Over the course of 34 years, OliverMcMillan completes over 18 public/private partnership developments, raises more than $200 million in public/municipal contributions and is recognized with over 40 design awards

2013
OliverMcMillan marks its most financially significant year yet with over $1 billion in projects under construction. 2013 marked the closing of loans and groundbreaking for Buckhead Atlanta, River Oaks District, and The Lofts at 688 as well as the land closing for The Lofts at Hayden Ferry.
