Question: What Is The Hunley Submarine?
Answer: The Hunley is a Confederate submarine that was discovered in 1995. The 2007 Cussler Convention was centered on the Hunley. We visited the restoration facility in Charleston and saw the Hunley Museum that does a wonderful job of telling the history of the first submarine used in naval combat. We walked through the museum with Dirk Cussler, Clive`s son, who added context to what we saw. Back at our meeting Ralph Wilbanks, the NUMA diver who found the Hunley, he shared the story of how they discovered it.
